Happy Birthday America

The 4th of July.  It conjures up thoughts of fireworks, parades, back yard cook outs, and just a whole lot of stuff.  It's also our nation's birthday, and while we are celebrating, we should take time to reflect what it took to build her.  Patriots, lots of them, men and women just like so many of our friends and neighbors; they loved their children, wanted a better life, and were willing to risk it all against seemingly impossible odds.

As we look around, we find ourselves at a crossroads in our nation’s history the likes of which haven’t been seen since our founding.  Today, just as then, there are sides forming; some in support and many more against what has become a tyrannical government.  I don’t know what the final outcome will be, however I do believe that we are arriving at day when We the People are forced to stand in revolt and say no more.  Our founders more than understood this; they structured the government of, by, and for the people with built in checks and balances so that we would not have to knuckle under a future tyrant.

But, just for one day, tomorrow, our country’s birthday; let’s put our differences aside and all come together as one America, one nation, one cohesive unit, one people, and let’s celebrate that we live in the greatest nation ever conceived in the history of the world.

God bless you my fellow Americans, and God bless the best place on earth to call home; the United States of America.  Happy Birthday!
