Will taking the Senate really make a difference?

So as always, I was listening to Moody Radio on the way to work the other morning, and I heard a guest say something along the lines of "….I’m proud to be an American, but I’m a Christian first.”  The guy was doing a back and forth with Dinesh D’Souza and I have to say, except for that one line, I didn’t agree with much of anything he had to say.  But the theme of that comment made a lot of sense to me, and got me to thinking.

As my readers know, I am a Christian; a follower of Christ, or whatever other term one might care to use to define that faith.  That is and always will be first and foremost in my life.  I am also a very proud American; I believe in what this nation stands for, the vision of the founders, what they modeled it on, and why it has lasted as long as it has.

Sadly, I also believe that we as a nation are on the way out for a lot of reasons, the most important of which is that we have lost sight of our heritage, and have completely changed direction and lost our moral compass.  I might add, we in America have by no means cornered the market on this.

In case you haven’t noticed lately:

Whether one looks to the constant and mounting crisis in the mid-east.

•The impending crash of the US Dollar and global economy.

•The moral decay and increased sexual depravity on every level of society.

•The savagery of the MB and their spawn ISIS beheading, raping, and otherwise destroying      Christians and Jews.

•The threat of nuclear proliferation and massive military build-up by the likes of No. Korea, China, and Russia.

•The situation in Ferguson, MO, and so much more, the world is a massive, chaotic, man-made mess.

Those last three words, "man-made mess” are the most important so far to my main point which I’ll discuss below.  Mankind excels at only one thing really, and that is making a colossal mess of things. Mankind is also very, very bad at fixing things.  We suck at it in fact.

Look at the history of mankind for a minute to see what we’ve done with creation.  Sure, there have been some good moments, some positive achievements, and advances in science and culture. However the over-all legacy of mankind is one of destruction and corruption.

In America, against all evidence to the contrary, a lot of people have come believe that all we have to do is get the ‘right’ people in office and everything will somehow be all honky dory.  This is especially so of the upcoming elections.  With few exceptions, all I’m hearing from my fellow conservatives is that the Republicans must take back the Senate in November, and of course maintain the House.  My questions lately are and have been….why?  What difference will it make?

I get hammered a lot when I pose those questions because some figure that as a conservative pundit I’m just supposed to shut up and go along with the flow.  For real though, when did it ever make a damn bit of difference which party was in control, and what makes anyone think anything will change if the balance of power shifts?

I’ll play along here for a second though.  What would happen if the Republican Party does manage to establish control of the combined Congress?

Would the horror of abortion go away?

•Will they impeach POTUS?  Perhaps; but would they then take it a step further and remove him from office and try him for treason?

•Would Israel be any safer?

•Will we have any less muslim brotherhood operatives in positions of authority in Homeland Security and other places?

•Would spending magically come under control and our budget be balanced?

•Will our military high command be restored?

•Would our borders get secured?

•Will the tons of benefits stop being heaped upon illegals?

•Would the VA magically start treating our Vets with honor and respect and good service?

•Will the outrageous ROE that tie the hands of our military be lessened?

•Would muslim terrorists suddenly fear us and stop attacking us?

•Will the world suddenly respect us again?

•Would judges stop legislating social issues from their benches?

•Will anything this POTUS has done be reversed?

•Would we start drilling and refining our own oil and tapping our energy resources the way we should be?

•Will there be a resurgence in common sense?

•Would the islamization of America be stopped?

The answer to those questions and countless more is no and anyone that believes otherwise is delusional.

Little, if any of it, would change even slightly if Congress remained under Republican control and we elected a Republican POTUS in 2016.  Because even if we were blessed to find a God-fearing man or woman of character and integrity, he or she would get sucked into the vortex of DC politics and nothing will change.  Even the dreaded ACA will simply wind up only being repackaged and maybe tidied up a bit.  The finger pointing would continue.

The bottom line is we are still going to continue our downward spiral.  I’m not trying to be negative here, just realistic.  As I said before, "Mankind is very, very bad at fixing things.”  We have created a God sized problem, and only He can and will fix it.

Can anyone reading this really point to a time when things haven’t been getting worse, culminating up to the national and worldwide mess confronting us?  Has the ideology of any political party anywhere ever made a bit of positive difference?  In America, both parties have had control in the past…to what good purpose?  We have still wound up in the same dysfunctional place.  Things get worse under one party and don’t change under the other.  Are we not witnessing evil being perpetuated more and more and in many instances 'accepted’ by large segments of world-wide society?  I would argue that our decline is increasing at a rapid pace.

Just to be clear, I absolutely believe the current POTUS and his administration is very destructive, and very deliberate; but I also look at him like a can of condensed soup.  Some of what he’s done has been done before, but had his actions of the past 5 and a half years been spread out over say 50 years, no one probably would have taken much notice.  In fact, a lot of the things that did happen in the 50 years prior to this presidency paved the way for him to get away with so much.  The biggest difference is that he has done so much damage so quickly that we haven’t been able to catch our breath or keep up with it, and whether it was him or someone else, there really is no way for mere men to fix the problems which continually worsen.  Certainly, no-one that can do anything about him is willing to.  The 'lawsuit’ by Boehner concerns POTUS so much he might have missed a putt somewhere.

So if you’ve read this far, you’re probably thinking "what to do then?”  I can’t answer that for everyone because some will agree and understand and some won’t, but I believe in my heart of hearts that we are witnessing events unfold that are of Biblical significance and proportion.  I believe the only answer to our problems here in America and worldwide is our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.  As easy as it can be to lose sight of, He is in control and is the only reason mankind, let alone the United States has survived as long as long as it has.

Mind you, His name won’t appear on any ballot and He will continue to be shunned by many, but my mission is to call things as I see them and sound the alarm.  My hope and prayer is that many, here and around the world will understand my message and ‘vote’ for Him with their hearts.  We live in the very temporary now, and eternity is just on the other side of it.

I am proud and blessed to be an American, and I am especially thankful to be a Christian in a nation where it is still legal to express my faith.  America and the world may be falling apart, but He is as solid as ever, and we need Him desperately.
