Allen West at Borlan Center

On Saturday afternoon, upwards of 600 supporters of Congressman Allen West crammed into the Borlan Center on PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.  As the room filled and a secondary room was opened, you could feel the excitement mounting as the crowd waited for Congressman West to enter.

Local singing favorite Lou Galterio opened the event once again with his rousing rendition of the the National Anthem.

After some brief introductions by Palm Beach County Republican Chairman Sid Dinerstein and Representative Patrick Rooney, the gathering was treated to a viewing of the soon to be released video campaign ad with the tag line, "I'm just getting started." http://www.allenwestforcongress.com/media/

As always, and ever the gentleman, he acknowledged the sacrifices of his wife and daughters.  He then delivered a rousing speech in which he shared his story of his roots and military history and what he has been doing in Washington, separating himself from the pack by making waves and not friends.  How he is being targeted by the left, and the media, and he likened himself to a bomber aircraft..."only taking flak when you're over the target."

More than one time the audience broke into applause and laughter, notably when he said that..."Washington has a good day when it manages not to screw up."  He closed his brief comments by referring to a scene from one of his favorite movies, 'Spartacus,' when the Greek slaves were offered the opportunity to turn Spartacus in, all of them made a stand and said, "I'm Spartacus," just as all of us need to make a stand.  The room broke out chanting "I'm Spartacus" and then led by Congressman West, everyone sang 'God Bless America' before breaking out chanting "USA, USA, USA."

For the next hour or so, the Congressman greeted well-wishers, and spent time with a number of media interviews.
