'Mom's' the word for Diners

Ever since I can remember, I've always liked Meatloaf with a big scoop of any kind of mashed potatoes, (Red Skin, Garlic, Yukon, Idaho; I ain't fussy) drowning in a bath of good, rich, smooth, (because lumpy gravy doesn't work for me) brown gravy with maybe a side of green beans or peas and carrots.  And please keep a bowl of nice, fresh, warm bread and butter on the table.  It's just good old fashioned, unpretentious, American comfort food.  While it is sort of difficult to mess up this American staple, I have had it where the best I could say was "it didn't suck."  Even grits taste so much better when you just make it using Meatloaf wrapped in Bacon......perfect every time.  LOL

Anyway, since I live in West Palm Beach without the use of a real kitchen currently, and as any regular reader of mine knows; I loves to dine out.  As it turns out, whether you want breakfast, lunch, or dinnah; one of the best casual, come as you are places not far from me is 'Mom's Kitchen' on Lake Worth Rd. in Lake Worth, FL.  I would guess I've eaten there a dozen or more times at various hours of the day, and not even once have I been less than happy with the experience.  You might be saying, "c'mon, it's just a diner," but for my money, it's among the best diners in So. Florida.  I won't mention it here, cause this is about Mom's, but there is a little joint in Ft. Lauderdale on Federal that does a hell of a job as well, but I digress.

On my last visit, surprisingly enough, I was thinking about the meatloaf; however, one of the specials of the day was a 'Cajun/Alfredo Shrimp dish over bowtie pasta.'   Since I like all of those things, I figured oh hell yeah; and I have to say, the only thing that stopped me from ordering more bread to dip in the sauce is a warning from my doc about watching out for that sort of thing.  Pfft, I almost 'watched' myself scoff it down in spite of that quack, (just kidding doc); after all, ain't none of us getting out of this turkey shoot called life alive anyway.  If enjoying good food is the way for me to meet my maker, so be it.

Okay, let's bring this home.  If you live or travel within 15 miles or so of Lake Worth Rd. where it meets the Florida Turnpike.  Stop what you're doing, travel about a third of a mile or so east of the turnpike, and just enjoy the heck of this place.  Doesn't even matter if you're not hungry.  What?!  You have to be hungry to eat?

You'll find Mom's at 7478 Lake Worth Rd. in Lake Worth, Florida.  This food freak gives them a 5 Star rating all day long.  Enjoy.
